Obituary

FRAZEYSBURG â?? Marvin L. Wheeler, 53, of Nashport, Ohio died Sunday morning, September 5, 2010 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born February 10, 1957 in Zanesville, Ohio he was the son of the late Clinton L. Wheeler and Violet I. (Mautz) Wheeler of Nashport. Mr. Wheeler was a 1975 graduate of Tri-Valley High School and the Mid-East Ohio Vocational School. He was a body man for Independence Auto Body of Newark, Ohio and he was a former employee of the Longaberger Company. He was a dedicated husband, father and son who spent 23 years of his life serving the community as a volunteer firefighter and EMT. He was former fire chief at Licking Township EMS and Fire Department and Frazeysburg Fire and Rescue. Marvin was a member of the Nashport United Methodist Church and the Ohio Fire Chiefs Association.
Surviving in addition to his mother is his wife, Brenda G. (Carpenter) Wheeler whom he married July 17, 1982; a son, Matthew (Janelle and Sydney Bice) Wheeler of Nashport; a daughter, Megan R. Wheeler of Nashport; three brothers, Willard (Sharon) Wheeler, Larry (Sylvia) Wheeler and Carmen (Carol) Wheeler all of Nashport; a sister, Mary Ann Fleming of Zanesville; a father in-law, Wayne Carpenter; sister in-law, Cheryl (Marlin Smith) Norman; brothers in-law, Donald (Tammy) Carpenter, Ronald Carpenter and Mark (April) Carpenter; several nieces and nephews and many close friends.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Howard and Blanche Wheeler and Mary Mautz; his mother in-law, Janice S. (Cartwright) Carpenter; a brother in-law, James Fleming and several aunts and uncles.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 9pm Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Funeral services will be 10:00am Thursday, September 9, 2010 at the Nashport United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dan Smith officiating. Burial will be in Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
