Obituary

A funeral service for Marvin E. Baker, 77 of Newark will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Father Stephen Metzger officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery. Mr. Baker passed away Tuesday morning at Flint Ridge Nursing Center in Newark. He was born May 26, 1931 in Frazeysburg to the late Merle and Ruth (Fisher) Baker. Mr. Baker graduated from McConnellsville High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Licking County Historical Society and attended the Church of the Nativity. Mr. Baker enjoyed farming, woodworking, traveling, and virtually anything involving nature. He also enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Victalia M. (Garduno) Baker, whom he married June 5, 1954; daughters, Linda James of Newark, Patty Baker of Apopka, Fla., and Elaine Insinga of Dublin; a son, Max Baker and Cindy Sims of Newark; grandchildren, Melissa James and Jonathan James, both of Granville, Andrea Insinga and Kelly Insinga, both of Dublin, Rebecca Baker and Amanda Baker, both of Newark, Helena Stephenson of North Carolina; and a sister Marceline Kelley of McConnellsville. In addition to his parents, Mr. Baker was preceded in death by a brother, Loren Baker. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark. A wake service will be at 8:00 p.m. following calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor?s choice.
