Martha A. Lacy, 81, of Dresden, Ohio died Sunday afternoon, February 28, 2016 at Genesis Morrison House in Zanesville, Ohio.
Born June 30, 1934 in Cambridge, Ohio she was a daughter of the late Leonard R. and Virginia F. (Knox) Durben and was a graduate of Cambridge High School. Martha was a former employee of Dresden Flowers and Greenhouse and she retired from the Longaberger Patio Shops in Dresden. She was a member of Northgate Open Bible Church of Dresden and was a volunteer at the Jubilee Food Pantry at Northgate Open Bible Church. Martha enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, traveling, and cooking and baking for her family and friends. She loved being around people and touched many people with her smile and giggling laugh. She will be greatly missed by her "daily telephone bunch" and many other friends.
Surviving is a daughter, Debra of Lancaster, Ohio; a son Rick (Christy) of Dresden; her grandchildren, Misty (Bryan) Young, Dustin (Katie) Wilkins, Morgan (Rich) Harvey and Tyler (Brittany) Lacy; her great grandchildren, Madeline, Preston, Huxley, Ruxen and Isabella and a sister in-law, Mary Ellen Sproull of Dresden.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Richard H. Lacy whom she married February 7, 1953 and who died April 30, 2010 and a brother, Gene Durben.
Martha's family would like to give a special thanks to Edie Crowthers for her caring heart and kindness as she cared for Martha; to Dr. Austen and his dialysis team for their care as well as the staff at Genesis 4 West during her stay and the staff of Genesis Morrison House for their care and comfort to her during her last days.
Calling hours will be 6pm to 8pm Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street and also for one hour prior to the funeral service, which will be 11:00am Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Northgate Open Bible Church, 10516 Frazeysburg Road, Dresden with Pastors Mike and Melody Foster officiating. Burial will be in Dresden Cemetery.
