Martha Lee CartnalAugust 21, 1920 ? February 20, 2007Mrs. Cartnal, age 86, formerly of Hanover, Ohio, passed away February 20, 2007. She retired from Licking Valley Schools. She was born August 21, 1920, in Hanover, to the late Charles F. Howdyshell and Nellie F. (McCollum) Howdyshell Smith.Mrs. Cartnal was a member of Hanover Presbyterian church, 60 year member of Hanover Chapter 220 of Eastern Star and devoted Harness Horse Racing enthusiast for 70 plus years.Martha Lee is survived by her husband of 68 years, Jacob H.; daughter, Lois (Robert) Barrick of Zanesville; son, Roger H. (Judy) Cartnal of Newark; grandchildren, Kerri (Scot) Postle of Hanover; Roger J. (Teresa) Cartnal of Newark; great grandchildren Alex, Byron and Emilee Postle; Katlynn Cartnal; sister in law Garnet Howdyshell of Greensboro, NC; numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Martha Lee was preceded in death by her brother Charles R. Howdyshell; brother and sister in law Roger W. (Jean) Howdyshell; daughter in law Linda Cartnal; and nephew Brian Howdyshell.Private graveside service will be held at a later date.The family suggests contributions, in Martha Lee?s name, be made to Hospice of Central Ohio 2269 Cherry Valley Road SE Newark, Ohio 43055-9925.
