Obituary

A Mass of Christian Burial for Marjorie M. Shomaker, 80 of Newark will be 10:00 a.m. Friday January 18, 2008 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with Rev. Father Adam Streitenberger, celebrant. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Shomaker died Monday January 14, 2008 at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was born May 27, 1927 in Newark. She faithfully attended St. Francis de Sales Church. Her greatest love was her wonderful family, and her greatest joy came from being a grandmother. Survivors include sons, John (Edith) Shomaker of Michigan., R. David (Becky) Shomaker of Texas., A. Kevin (Cindy) Shomaker of Idaho; daughters, Marvine Shomaker of Texas., Mary (Tom) Lewis of Newark, Marjorie Elkins of Heath, Martha (Joe) Bennett of Newark, Frances (Don) Driver of Arizona; brothers in-law, Bob (Phyllis) Shomaker of Heath, Al (Marcia) Shomaker of Utica; Jim (Bettie) Shomaker of Utica; sisters in-law, Pat (John) Ricket of Hebron and Lea Riffle of Marion; 40 grandchildren; and 33 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband William D. Shomaker, whom she married November 4, 1945 and who died March 2, 1983; sons, William L. Shomaker, Timothy Shomaker; a grandson, Allen Kevin Shomaker,Jr.; a brother, Carl L. ?Red? Franklin; sisters in-law, Ellen (Jack) Quinif, Shirley Weakley; and brother in-law, Harry Riffle. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Thursday January 17, 2008 at the Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark. A Rosary will begin at 8:30 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Licking County Aging Program. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
