Marjorie B. Bowden, 90, of Zanesville, died unexpectedly early Thursday morning July 29, 2010 at her home.
Mrs. Bowden was born March 29, 1920 in Adams Township, a daughter of John and Iona (Trottman) Kreis. A life-long Adamsville resident, she was a graduate of Adamsville High School and had worked at Muskingum College and Essex Wire in Zanesville. Mrs. Bowden and her husband Glen farmed and enjoyed raising produce for her family and to sell at the Farmerâ??s Market at the fairgrounds. She also had exhibited for 59 years at the Muskingum County Fair. Earlier this month, Mrs. Bowden and her husband served as Grand Marshalls for the Adamsville Homecoming. She was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church in Adamsville.
Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Glen O. Bowden, whom she married on April 5, 1942; her children, Bonnie Bowden of Zanesville, Beverly (Clarence) Mitchell of Zanesville, Richard Bowden of Norwich; six grandchildren, Tamara (Bill) Barnhart, Pamela Mitchell, Douglas Mitchell, Shane Bowden, Karen Solt, Melissa (Ryan) Smith; six great grandchildren, Tyler, Brittney, Madison, Kelsey, Reece and Jenna and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lynette Bowden; a sister, Pauline See and brothers, William, Clement, Roy and Robert Kreis and two infant brothers.
Friends may call 5-8PM Monday August 2, 2010 at the Adamsville Community Building, 8200 Madison Street, Adamsville. A funeral service will be held at 11AM Tuesday at the Community Center with Pastor Mary Molnar officiating, friends may also call one hour prior to services. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery.
