Marissa Dayle Hindel

Marissa Dayle Hindel, 36, of Newark, Ohio died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, September 22, 2026, at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark.

Born April 11, 1990, in Newark, she was a daughter of Dale and Angela (Jacks) Hindel and a 2008 graduate of Licking Valley High School. Marissa enjoyed cooking, reading, writing poetry, and watching movies, especially with her children. She was lovingly referred to as “The Sucker Lady” at work because she always had a sucker and a kind smile for any of the children that came through her line.

Marissa was kind, funny, and loving. She was nice to everyone she met, constantly making new friends everywhere she went. Marissa had a loving heart, and she was always the first to offer a helping hand. She loved animals, especially her dog, Scout. Marissa adored her children, loved them unconditionally and was known to spoil them. Marissa cherished the time she was able to spend with her family and friends, she will be deeply missed.

Surviving are her children, Colton and Cienna Hiser of Newark; parents, Dale Eugene and Angela Irene (Jacks) Hindel of Newark; two sisters, Meghan (Junior) Barnes and Marcie (Breana) Felix, both of Canal Winchester; paternal grandmothers, Marlene Hindel and Harriet Hindel; niece, Stella Irene Barnes; nephew, James Ernest Barnes, III; best friend, Ashley Davis-Sparks; special dog, Scout and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Marissa is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Charles K. and Betty Irene Jacks, Sr.; paternal grandfather, William R. Hindel; two uncles, Charles K. Jacks, Jr. and Raymond P. Hindel.

Friends and family may visit 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Wagner-Marshall Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at the funeral home. Burial in Frazeysburg Cemetery will immediately follow.

Marissa’s love for others and the want to help others was reflected in her last act of organ and tissue donation. The hope is that Marissa’s donations made it possible for others to live a long and happy life.
