Funeral Services for Marietta (Van Fleet) Turner, 91 of Newark will be held Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home 1850 West Main Street with Pastor David P. Helser officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be observed Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until services.

Mrs. Turner passed away at her residence on September 8, 2021. She was born on May 1, 1930 in Newark, the only child of Boyd and Mary (Coffman) Van Fleet.

She graduated as Valedictorian of the 1948 Class of Utica High School. She attended Newark Business College and was employed for Universal Supply for ten years. She was a member of the St. Louisville Church of Christian Disciples and served as the organist for over 60 years. She enjoyed gardening and was interested in politics. She had a lifetime love of cats.

She is survived by three children; son, Charles "Chuck" Turner and Leza Rojas, who have been her caregivers for the past eight years; son, Robert L. Turner of Mt. Vernon; daughter, Janet (John) Koch of Newark; grandsons, Casey Turner of Mt. Vernon,  Brandon Turner and PFC Jake Koch both of Newark; great-granddaughter, Sparklin Turner.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Robert Turner in 1996.
