A funeral service for Margaret E. Phillips, 89 of Newark will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 5, 2009 at Hanover Presbyterian Church with Rev. Charlsie Ramsey officiating. Burial will be at Newark Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Phillips died Friday, January 2, 2009 at her home. She was born January 3, 1919 in Lowell to the late John Wesley and Bessie (Rayburn) Murray. Mrs. Phillips was a member of the Hanover Presbyterian Church. She devoted much of her life to volunteer work. Survivors include her son, Joseph Fredric Phillips and his wife Judy of Newark; daughters, Sandra Hamm and her husband Larry of Newark, and Karen E. Boring of Newark; sisters in-law, Edith White of Bradington, Fla., and Marie Murrey of Buckeye Lake; 8 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, C. Joseph Phillips, January 29, 1992; six brothers, and two sisters. Friends may visit from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 4, 2008 at the funeral home, 1850 W. Main St., Newark; and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 5, 2008 at the church, 732 N. Main Street, NE, Newark. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hanover Presbyterian Church or Hospice of Central Ohio. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
