Mable I. Mercer, 93, formerly of Marne, Ohio died Saturday evening, September 20, 2014 at Cedar Hill Care Center in Zanesville, Ohio.
Born September 15, 1921 in Morgan County, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Cassius Cooley and Goldie Van Horn Schlereth. Mrs. Mercer was a high school graduate and she attended business school and nursing school. She worked for many years as a nursing assistant at Willow Haven Nursing Home in Zanesville. Mable was a member of the Hanover Presbyterian Church and the church Craft Club. She was a former Deacon of the McConnelsville Presbyterian Church, McConnelsville, Ohio.
Surviving is one son, Larry (Jeannine) Mercer of Zanesville; one daughter, Gerlina Rudinoff of Wilmington, Delaware; one brother, Roy Cooley of Frazeysburg; four grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son in-law, Ronald Rudinoff and two brothers, Ray Cooley and Malcolm Cooley.
Calling hours will be from 4pm to 7pm Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Calling hours will also be one hour prior to the service, which will be 11:00am Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at the funeral home with the Rev. Charlsie Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newark, Ohio.
