Mabel Catherine Sidwell, 98, of Frazeysburg, Ohio died Sunday morning, October 11, 2015 at Genesis Morrison House in Zanesville, Ohio.
Born June 6, 1917 in Deavertown, Ohio she was a daughter of the late Harry Gibbs, Sr. and Edna Tysinger Gibbs and was a graduate of Deavertown High School. Mrs. Sidwell was a homemaker and a member of the Perryton United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Review Club and the Fifty Club. Mabel enjoyed gardening, cooking and taking care of her family.
Surviving are three sons, Clarence (Becky) Sidwell, Jr., Charles (Kathy) Sidwell and Jeff (Janet) Sidwell all of Frazeysburg; two daughters, Judy (Vern) Johnson of Thornville, Ohio and Sue Ann (Paul) Abele of Blue Rock, Ohio; eighteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; a brother, Harry (Betty) Gibbs, Jr.; a brother in-law, Bernard McHenry and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence B. Sidwell, Sr. whom she married August 9, 1941 and who died August 23, 1971; a great granddaughter, Zoee Sidwell; three sisters, Mildred McHenry, Gladys (Pete) Bush and Helen (Roy) Pletcher and a brother, Harold (Alice) Gibbs.
The Sidwell family wishes to give a very special thanks to Mabel's caregivers, to whom they will be forever grateful; Maxine Crawmer, Nellie Dick, Wanda Butler, Kristi Larrimer, Aziza Sidwell and her very special nephew, Don Bush.
Calling hours will be 6pm to 8pm Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street and for one hour prior to the funeral service, which will be 11:00am Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Wayt officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
