Mabel V. Pethtel, 97, formerly of Hanover, Ohio died peacefully at her home in Nashport, Ohio Saturday morning, April 24, 2021.  She was affectionately known by many as "Granny".

Born June 9, 1923 in Deep Valley, Pennsylvania she was a daughter of the late John A. and Nevada (Miller) Strosnider.  She was the youngest of nine children.  During World War II she worked at National Electric Company in Ambridge, Pennsylvania as an inspector, but she spent most of her life as a homemaker.  Mabel was a member of the Methodist faith.

Surviving is one daughter and son in-law, Carol L. and Walter "Sonny" Wilson of Nashport; two grandchildren, Michelle (Steve) Rivers of Granville, Ohio and Mark (Brenda) Wilson of Newark, Ohio; four great grandchildren, Mackenzie (Mike) Riley, Karoline (Drew) Gibson, Wyatt Rivers and David Rivers; seven great great grandchildren, Kinley, Rhett, Krew, Falynn, Jaxon, Nash and Charli Dee.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Robert E. Pethtel whom she married November 21, 1944 and who died February 15, 2010; a son, Robert Wayne Pethtel who died January 25, 1992 and eight brother and sisters.

There will be no public calling hours.

Private family funeral services will be held and she will be laid to rest beside her loving husband, Robert, in Hanover Cemetery.
