Obituary

Mabel Hanks, 104, of Dresden, died at 4:43PM Friday May 8, 2009 at Genesis Extended Care & Rehabilitation Center in Zanesville. Mrs. Hanks was born August 29, 1904 in Wayne Township, Muskingum County, Ohio, a daughter of the late Samuel and Bessie (Moehler) Parkinson. She had worked for the Darling family in Trinway and at McKnight?s Restaurant on Main Street in Dresden. Mrs. Hanks was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dresden. She is survived by her daughters, Alice (Gary) Crago of New Lexington, Marian (Arnold) Dingess of Zanesville and Catherine Mills Lockard; a sister, Jessie Snedeker of Texas; 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 20 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents was preceded in death by husbands, Joseph D. Lacy in 1955, Albert A. Hanks in 1972; a son, Charles Edward Mills; a daughter, Mary Lou Newlon and a brother, Kenneth Moore. Friends may call 5-8PM Monday May 11, 2009 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, where services will be held at 1PM Tuesday May 12, 2009 with Pastor Andrew Dennis. Burial will follow in the Dresden Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 501, Dresden, OH 43821; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
