Mabel Hanks, 104, of Dresden, died at 4:43PM Friday May 8, 2009 at Genesis Extended Care & Rehabilitation Center in Zanesville. Mrs. Hanks was born August 29, 1904 in Wayne Township, Muskingum County, Ohio, a daughter of the late Samuel and Bessie (Moehler) Parkinson. She had worked for the Darling family in Trinway and at McKnight?s Restaurant on Main Street in Dresden. Mrs. Hanks was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dresden. She is survived by her daughters, Alice (Gary) Crago of New Lexington, Marian (Arnold) Dingess of Zanesville and Catherine Mills Lockard; a sister, Jessie Snedeker of Texas; 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 20 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents was preceded in death by husbands, Joseph D. Lacy in 1955, Albert A. Hanks in 1972; a son, Charles Edward Mills; a daughter, Mary Lou Newlon and a brother, Kenneth Moore. Friends may call 5-8PM Monday May 11, 2009 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, where services will be held at 1PM Tuesday May 12, 2009 with Pastor Andrew Dennis.
