Lowell S. Thomas, 68, of Dresden, died at 4:04PM Wednesday February 18, 2009 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Thomas was born August 14, 1940 near Dresden, a son of the late Roy H. and Ella Mildred (Prince) Thomas. A 1958 graduate of Jefferson High School, he was a life-long farmer. Mr. Thomas was a member of the Farm Bureau and enjoyed attending auctions. He is survived by his sister, Athern (Kermit) Sheets of Dresden, a brother, John (Lorraine) Thomas of Hendersonville, NC; nieces and nephews, Charles Eric (Lori) Spiker of Dresden, Debbie (Rick) Green of Zanesville, Kevin (Amy) Spiker of Dresden, Kendra (Jay) Lee of Germany, Steven Thomas of Columbus, Paul Thomas of North Carolina; several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews and his two special dogs, Shadow and Hooch. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Dwight Spiker. Friends may call 4-8PM Saturday February 21, 2009 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, where services will be held on Sunday at 2:30PM with Pastor Sharon Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in the Dresden Cemetery. Memorial contributions envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
