Louise L. Newell, 77, of Zanesville, Ohio died Saturday morning, February 6, 2016 at The Oaks at Northpointe surrounded by her loving family.
Born March 31, 1938 in Buffalo, Ohio she was a daughter of the late Richard and Edna (Trenner) Masters. Mrs. Newell retired in 2001 from Popeye's Restaurant in Dresden where she was a cook. She had previously been head cook at Sunny View Nursing Home in Zanesville for 30 years. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Zanesville and she enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and embroidery. She especially loved being with her family.
Surviving is one son and daughter in-law, Chauncy and Christina Newell of Lithopolis, Ohio; a daughter and son in-law, Anita and Doug Black of Zanesville; seven grandchildren, Amy Altier, Ashley Harper, Adam Black, Allison Black, Ashton Black, Christopher Newell and Bella Newell; three great grandchildren, Lincoln Harper, Myah Harper and Connor Dorsey; two brothers, Glenn (Shirley) Masters of Byesville, Ohio and Malcolm Masters of Belle Valley, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Chauncy E. Newell, whom she married May 26, 1961 and who died November 4, 1994; two brothers, Jim Masters and Fred Masters and a sister, Glenna Amweg.
The Newell family would like to give a very special thanks to all of Louise's many friends and neighbors who visited and cared for her and to the great staff at The Oaks at Northpointe for their loving care and support.
Calling hours will be 5pm to 8pm Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday, February 11, 2016 at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Peters officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Church Cemetery at a later date.
