Louisa F. Howard, 86, of Dresden, Ohio died Tuesday morning, November 6, 2018 at Genesis Morrison House in Zanesville.

Born August 14, 1932 in Dresden she was a daughter of the late Clive and Margret (DeGarmo) McDonald and was a 1950 graduate of Dresden Jefferson High School. She also attended Meredith Business School in Zanesville.  Mrs. Howard worked at many jobs over the years as a bookkeeper and in housekeeping.  Later, for many years, she worked in home health in the Marietta, Ohio area.  Even with all these jobs, her greatest love was working on the family farm and raising sheep.  She also enjoyed quilting.  Louisa was Episcopalian by faith and was a lifetime member of both the DAV and the VFW.

Surviving are three daughters, Elaine (Rocky) Crockett of Dresden, Ellen (Joanna Hoelsworth) Howard of Zanesville and Julie (Jeff) Devol of Caldwell, Ohio; one son, Jeff (Penny) Howard of Waterford, Ohio; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Also surviving is one sister, Leah Couts of Akron, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Norman Howard whom she married September 20, 1953 and who died February 1, 2004; a sister, Catherine Headley and two brothers, John McDonald and Erwin McDonald.

Calling hours will be from 4pm to 6pm Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.

Funeral services will be 6:00pm Friday, November 9, 2018 at the funeral home with Chaplain Tim Patton officiating.
