Lorrie Jane Nethers Abel, 52, of Dover, Ohio, formerly of Hopewell, Ohio died Thursday morning, January 7, 2016 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center operated by Hospice of Central Ohio in Newark, Ohio.
Born April 22, 1963 in Zanesville, Ohio she was a daughter of the late John William Nethers and Marion Kay (Cowgill) Nethers of Hopewell. Lorrie was a graduate of West Muskingum High School and was a self-employed licensed massage therapist. She loved to help people and truly had a "healing touch". Lorrie loved all animals and her pets were her children. She also loved cooking and sharing her dishes with people in need.
Surviving in addition to her mother is a brother, John W. (Michelle) Nethers, II of Louisville, Kentucky; three sisters, Rosemary Barboza of Newark, Peggy (Mike) Petrill of Hopewell and Cathy (Howard) Boykin of Thornville, Ohio; nieces and nephews, Juan (Alyson) Barboza, Will (Misty) Morgan, Meghan (Scott) Adams, Staci (Glenn) Hanson, Brent (Trisha) Boykin, J. T. Nethers, Nathan and Madeline Nethers; several great nieces and great nephews and her "wonder dogs", "Scout" and "Jack".
In addition to her father she was preceded in death by a nephew, Antonio Martinez and her companion dog, "Brutus".
No calling hours will be observed. A celebration of Lorrie's life and a meal will be held at 12:30pm Saturday, January 23, 2016 in the social hall of Trinity Episcopal Church, 76 East Main Street, Newark, Ohio 43055.
