Loran J. Hains, 82, of Dresden, died at 6:30AM Tuesday November 2, 2004 at the Ohio Veteran?s Home in Sandusky. Mr. Hains was born April 13, 1922 in Hallowell, Kansas, a son of the late Lester Wayne and Lena (Elliott) Hains. An Army veteran of WWII, he had served in the European Theatre. He was a retired machinist and had worked at Cardwell, Inc. in Kansas and had worked at Wal Mart as a greeter in Wellington, Kansas and Zanesville. For several years he and his first wife operated a ceramic shop and restaurant in Kansas and was a member of Oxford Lodge F.&A.M. #165 also in Kansas. He was a member of the Dresden U. Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Lola Crown Hains, whom he married in 1994; a son, Larry Hains of Lansing, Kansas, a daughter, Shirley (Dr. Tim) Harris of Boone, N. Carolina, grandchildren, Carrie (Scott) Phillips of Denver, CO, Brett Harris of Wake Forest N. Carolina, Larry Hains, Jr., serving with the U.S. Army; a great granddaughter, Clara Sally-Anne Phillips; four step children, Rebecca (Scott) Robinson of Kensington, MD, Marilyn (Marcus) Grodi of Dresden, John Crown of Dresden, Holly Crown of Dresden, seven step grandchildren, Ashley and Sam Robinson, John Marc, Peter and Richard Grodi, Dayne Crown and Meredith Amber Crown.He was preceded in death by his first wife, Claudine Hains in 1986 and a brother Carl Hains. Friends may call 6-8PM Thursday November 4, 2004 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, where services will be held at 11AM Friday with Pastor Ricci Arthur officiating.
