Obituary

A funeral service for Linda J. Kerr, 82 of Newark will be held Friday July 2, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Chaplain Brian Humphries officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Kerr passed away Tuesday June 29, 2021 at the Arlington Care Center. She was born October 24, 1938 at home on Moull Street to Theodore R. and Viola A. (Leckrone) Swan.She grew up on Wilson Street next to what was called the cement drive by the family. Three house down a young man by the name of Paul Kerr moved to the neighborhood. When she saw him, she said, "I am going to marry him." August 4, 1957 their marriage took place at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, N. 5 th St. Together they raised three children and were married 52 years at the time of Paul's passing on December 21, 2009. Linda started working at Newark Trust Company while still attending Newark High School. She continued employment for 42 years, through several mergers including Central Trust and Bank One, retiring from the Granville branch.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, a 62 year member and a Past Matron of Wroena Chapter # 597, OES. She also served as Past President of District 12 Association, OES. She was a 1956 graduate of Newark High School. Linda enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling and especially spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children, Lucinda "Cindy" (Richard) Fawcett, Lisa Hamilton, Paul (Mary) Kerr, Jr.; grandchildren, Rachel (Michael) Fawcett-Sabo, Jeremy Hamilton, Alaina (Gary) Smith, Paul (Katie) Kerr, III, Steven (Brittany) Kerr; great-grandchildren, Emma Hamilton, Sapphire Smith, Caleb Smith, Isis Hamilton, Joseph Kerr, Xander Hamilton, Jarrin Smith, Gemma Sabo, Savannah Kerr, Bryer Kerr; brother, David Swan; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, preceded in death by her husband, Paul A. Kerr, Sr.; son-in-law, Jack Hamilton, Jr.; sisters, Norma Smallwood and Beth Campbell.

Visitation will be  observed Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home 1850 West Main Street. Eastern Star services will be conducted at 5:45 p.m.
