Leona M. Steen, 86, of Newark, Ohio died Monday evening, December 12, 2016 at her home.

Born May 19, 1930 in Licking County, she was a daughter of the late Clinton A. and Leola Mae (Romine) Wright and was a 1948 graduate of Hanover-Toboso High School. Mrs. Steen was a homemaker and attended Marne United Methodist Church. She attended many activities at Heritage Hall Senior Center in Newark and she loved music. She played her keyboard every day and had written several original songs. She also enjoyed refinishing antique furniture and doing crafts.

Surviving is one daughter, Arletta Holman of Jordan, New York; one grandson David Garth (Stephanie) Holman of Kent, Ohio; three great grandchildren, Hanna, Zachary and Cassidy Holman; one brother, Clinton W. (Linda) Wright of Newark and several nieces and nephews, including her special nieces, Susan O'Brien and Kimberly Borgia.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Oren J. Steen, whom she married in 1948 and who died in 2009; a grandson, Brian Eric Holman and four brothers, Lester, Foster, Roy and Eldred Wright.

Calling hours will be 2 to 5pm Sunday, December 18, 2016 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Monday, December 19, 2016 at the funeral home with Pastor Daniel Fullen officiating. Burial will be in Hanover Cemetery.
