Obituary

A funeral service for Lee E. ?Tim? Sellers, 67, of Newark will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 18, 2004 at The Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael C. Menefield and Rev. Dr. Charles W. Noble Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mr. Sellers died Monday at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was a published author, lecturer, librarian, and social worker. He was born January 1, 1937 in Braggs, Ala. to the late Charles Sellers and Lucille (Moorer) Sellers. After graduating from Newark High School Sellers continued his education at Wilberforce University, the University of Denver, Atlanta University and the University of Pittsburgh. He earned two masters degrees, one in Social Work and the other in Library Science and completed his doctoral studies in Library and Information Science. Mr. Sellers retired as an Associate Professor from Hunter College in Manhatten, NY. He is survived by his mother, Lucille Sellers of Newark; a brother, Robert L. Sellers of Newark; three sisters, Bernice (Art) Matthews of Newark, Earline Sellers of Newark, and Olivia Thomas of Newark; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and aunts; his closest friends Wenzola Lowe-Perry, her children whom he was godfather, Denaka and Franklin Perry, Arthur Gunn, Ann Thompson, Theodosia T. Shields, Everett Pope and Ken Richards; and close friend Roy Craddock. Calling hours will be from 6-9PM on Sunday at the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
