Laura Vroom Hitchcock Reed, 83, formerly of Nashport, Ohio died Sunday morning, February 26, 2006 at the home of her daughter, in Caldwell, Ohio. Born July 16, 1922 in Nashport, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Agnes (Shipley) Vroom and was a 1941 graduate of Nashport High School. She was a homemaker and a member of the Lowell United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Nashport United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star for over fifty years. Mrs. Reed enjoyed knitting and was an accomplished seamstress. Surviving are two daughters, Esther E. Hitchcock of Caldwell and Julie A. (Scott) Taylor of Brooksville, Florida; one son, Bob (Linda) Hitchcock of Las Vegas, Nevada; three grandchildren, Dennis Hitchcock of Zanesville, Ohio, Kimberly (Thomas) Squires and Andrew (Shannon) Hitchcock, both of Las Vegas; seven great grandchildren, Jayme Hitchcock, Lindsey Hitchcock, Stephaney Hitchcock, Hunter Hitchcock, Hayden Hitchcock, Aaron Squires and Logan Squires; one sister, Esther Vensil of Nashport; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ray W. Hitchcock, who died July 12, 1972, her second husband, Maurice Reed, who died June 25, 2003; and her sister, Helen Hanby, who died August 18, 1994. Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street, Frazeysburg. Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday, March 2, 2006 at the funeral home with Mrs. Reed?s nephews, Minister Daniel Gault and Minister Gerald Moreland officiating. Burial will be in Hanover Cemetery.
