A funeral service celebrating the life of LaRene Marcine Garee, 75 of Newark will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday February 9, 2006 at the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Gus Andrews officiating. Burial will be in Newark Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Garee went to be with the Lord February 5, 2007 while resting at home. She was surrounded by family and friends. She was born September 28, 1931 in Walhounding, Ohio to the late Cecil and Nellie (Miller) Baker. She graduated from Centerburg High School in 1950. Mrs. Garee was a retired beautician and the owner of Charm Hair Fashions in Newark. She was also a member of the Licking Valley Church of Christ. In her later years, she spent most of her time sewing, crocheting and cooking. Her greatest joy was her six grandchildren. Mrs. Garee is survived by her four children; Crystal (Michael) Ranft of Forestville, New York, Brenda Garee of Newark, Jon (Sherri) Garee of Newark, and Michele (Tim) Starcher of Heath; six grandchildren, Aaron, Savannah and Olivia Garee, of Newark, Sylvia Sherrod and Evelyn Starcher of Heath; and Nicholas Ranft of Forestville, NY; a sister, Sharon (Ed) Rhodeback of Pataskala; two brothers, Ronnie Baker of Mansfield and Penny (Carol) Baker of Centerburg. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years Wendell L. Garee, June 2, 1980; and a brother Atlee Baker. Friends and family may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday February 8, 2007 at the Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.
