Kenneth J. Paynter, 76, died surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at his home in Zanesville.
Born August 29, 1936 in Dresden, Ohio he was a son of the late Kenneth L. and Bertha (Keith) Paynter. Mr. Paynter retired in 1993 as a freight conductor from Conrail Railroad where he had worked for 35 years. Previously he had work at the Dresden Woolen Mill. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and travelling.
Surviving is his wife of nearly 57 years, Joanne (Krebs) Paynter whom he married August 31, 1956; three sons, Dave (Barb) Paynter and Eric (Trish) Paynter, both of Zanesville and Ray (Erin) Paynter of Dresden; one daughter, Kendra (Steve) Brooks of New Concord, Ohio; ten grandchildren, Steve and Lynn Paynter, Jenny Paynter, Chris Paynter, Kylee Paynter, Nick Paynter, Stephanie and Cory Ansel, Kaylee and Dustin Shumate, Cody Paynter, Luke and Shelby Brooks and Abbey Brooks; one step grandson, Cameron McKee; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Maxwell of Columbus, Ohio and Shirley Paynter of Mt. Perry, Ohio; one brother, Bill (Teresa) Paynter of Mt. Perry; two sisters in-law, Rose Paynter of Zanesville and Sharon Krebs of Columbus; several nieces and nephews and many other family members and friends.
Calling hours will be 3pm to 7pm Thursday, June 27, 2013 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Friday, June 28, 2013 at the funeral home with the Rev. Joe Offenberger officiating. Burial will be in Dresden Cemetery.
