Kay Border, 83, of Dresden, died peacefully Wednesday morning, February 18, 2026.

Born November 15, 1942, in New Lexington, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Charles Elekes and Helen (Johnson) Cronin. Kay was a 1960 graduate of Frazeysburg High School and a faithful member of Muskingum Church. In her younger years, Kay worked in retail, and at The Longaberger Company, but her true passion was being a wife, mother and grandma, she was the glue and foundation of her family. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and watching and cheering for Tri-Valley Basketball. Kay was always on the move, she liked to keep active from her walks through town, playing tennis, competing in various bowling leagues to playing BINGO in Zanesville.

Surviving is her husband of 42 years, Doug R. Border, whom she married October 6, 1983; two children, Stephanie (Brian) Hahn and Stephen (Rebekah) Brown; four granddaughters, Melissa (Trent) Nethers, Allison (Cody) Dodrill, Lauren (Derick) Douglas, and Hannah Brown; four great grandchildren, Emilia and Leo Nethers and Harley and Lane Dodrill; five siblings, Chuck (Bev) Elekes, Doug (Judy) Elekes, Jack (Hilda) Cronin, Marsha (Dennis) Miller and Joe Cronin; father-in-law, Gary Border; brother & sister-in-law, Greg (Tammy) Border; her best friend, Toni Prince; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Rob House.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Muskingum Church, 4545 Gorsuch Road, Nashport, Ohio, 43830 or Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Road, Newark, Ohio 43055.

Family and friends may visit 1:00pm-4:00pm, Sunday, February 22, 2026, at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil | Wagner | Marshall Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 23, 2026, at 11:00am with one hour of viewing prior to the service at Muskingum Church, 4545 Gorsuch Road, Nashport, Ohio with Pastor Donna Edsall officiating.

Kay will be laid to rest at Muskingum Church Cemetery, Nashport.
