FRAZEYSBURG – Kathryn M. Dorsey, 94, of Perryton, Ohio died Tuesday afternoon, April 5, 2011 in the emergency room of Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital, Zanesville, Ohio.
Born June 3, 1916 in Hanover Township of Licking County she was the daughter of the late Albert and Hattie (Romine) Osborn and was a 1934 graduate of Hanover High School. She was a life-long member of the Perryton Church of Christ. Mrs. Dorsey was the very first cook at Perry Elementary School in the early years and later she work for many years as a clerk in the drapery department of John J. Carroll's Department Store in Newark. In addition, she was a homemaker and she loved gardening, tending to her many flowers, taking care of all her animals and listening to country music.
Surviving are two sons, Donald G. (Sharon) Dorsey, Jr. of Gratiot, Ohio and Walter L. Dorsey of Perryton; four grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and her "best friend", her dog "Lady".
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Donald H. Dorsey, Sr. whom she married July 22, 1936 and who died October 25, 1996; a grandson Brent Dorsey; a great grandson, Christopher Parsons; three brothers, Charles, Walter and Russell Osborn and two sisters, Letha Underwood and Dollie Wright.
Calling hours will be 1 hour prior to the service which will be 1:00pm Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street with Minister Donald W. Allen officiating. Burial will be in Irville Cemetery.
