Obituary

GRANVILLE:  A funeral service for Kathryn L. Curtis, 94 of Granville will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 25, 2013 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Katrick officiating.  Burial will be in Newark Memorial Gardens.Mrs. Curtis passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Licking Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 13, 1918 in Thurston, Ohio to the late Joseph B., and Verna L. (Foy) Murphy.  She graduated from Thornville High School in 1936. She had worked for her family grocery, Murphy Brothers; Curtis-Wright Airplane in Columbus; and after her marriage she and her late husband operated Newark Meat Supply.  Mrs. Curtis was a past member of the St. Louisville Garden Club, Soroptimist, a 75 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a faithful member of St. John's United Church of Christ.  Additionally she was an avid Buckeye fan, she loved Big Band music and she was known for her keen sense of humor.

Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Shrader of Granville; a son, James (Kim) Curtis of Grayslake, Ill.; grandchildren, John (Rebecca) Shrader, Kurt (Emily) Shrader, Claudia (Josh) Percifield, Emily (Kevin) Bear; Great-Grandchildren, Anna, Henry, Max, Lucy, and Alexander (A.J.); and a brother, Joseph (Betty) Murphy.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Curtis was preceded in death by her husband, Watson M. Curtis, September 19, 1990; and a sister, Rheba Dean.

Friends and family may call one hour prior to the funeral service on Monday at VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.
