Kathleen Marie Ross, 71 of Newark, passed away Sunday January 15, 2023 surrounded by her loving family at the Selma Markowitz Care Center operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. She was born December 24, 1951 in Newark to George E. and Evelyn M. (Lawson) Boylan.

Kathleen graduated from Licking Valley High School and then attended Heidelberg College where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1974. She taught school for more than 20 years and retired in 2020 from the Newark City Schools, most recently teaching at Heritage Middle School. Having a strong Christian faith, she taught Sunday School and served as a Christian Education Director for many years. When her children were young, she was an active 4-H leader and Cub Scout den mother. Kathleen influenced countless children over the years and instilled confidence and faith in many students' lives.

Kathleen has been so many things to so many people. These titles include daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, friend, listener, confidant, cheerleader, advisor, and faithful servant. She loved spending time with family and close friends. Kathleen enjoyed jeeping, long rides on her golf cart, thrift shopping, all of her animals, mushroom hunting, horseback riding and cheering for her grandchildren in all of their activities.

She is survived by her husband, James A. Ross; children, Samantha (Ken) Lemmon, Jay (Megan) Bussey all of Newark; grandchildren, Kylah Bussey (Wade Winland), Olivia Wells, Aubree Wells, Kendall-Ann Lemmon, Jaylynn Bussey, Avery Bussey, Quinn Bussey; great-grandchildren, Emersyn Winland, Lynal Bussey, Lyla Winland; step-children, Brittney Ross, Brandon (Kenee) Ross all of Oklahoma; step-grandchildren, Michael & soon to be born granddaughter; brother, Ronald (Suzanne) Boylan of Marysville; niece, Alicia Noblit; nephew, Perry (Catherine) Boylan and their children, Ethan and Aaron.

A celebration of life for Kathleen will be held Friday, January 20, 2023 from 2 - 4 pm and 5 - 7 pm at the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home 1850 W. Main Street.
