A funeral service for Karen S. Smith, 28 of Johnstown will be held Monday September 26, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Dean Cole officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.

Karen died Tuesday September 20, 2011 at her residence. She was born October 7, 1982 in Newark to Glen A. and Janet M. (Dimond) Hite of Newark.

Karen was a graduate of the Licking County Joint Vocational School. She was employed at St. Ann's Hospital as a technician in the Endoscope Lab. She was active in her spare time mud running. She also enjoyed deer hunting. The love and support of her family was foremost in her life. She will sadly missed by all that knew her.

She is survived by her parents; her husband, Brad M. Smith, whom she married June 8, 2007; daughter, Kylie Swetnam; step-daughters, Whitney Smith, Tela Harris; sister, Joan M. (Nick W. ) Welch of Luther, Mich.; brother, Christopher A. Hite of Newark and his fiancée, Amanda B. Caughenbaugh; nephews, Levi Welch, Matthew A. Hite, Nathan A. Hite; father-in-law, Vernon Smith of Johnstown.

Calling hours will be observed Sunday September 25, 2011 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home 1850 West Main Street, Newark.
