Karen Sue Longfellow

Karen Sue Longfellow, 81, of Mt. Vernon, Ohio died unexpectedly Monday morning, July 27, 2026 at her home.

Born October 19, 1944, in Woodsfield, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Carl R. and Wilma M. (Steed) Turner and a 1963 graduate of Frazeysburg High School. A Christian by faith, she worked as an aide at Mt. Vernon Developmental Center for over 20 years. Karen enjoyed crocheting, reading, baking, and cooking. Her family would often recommend her delicious meatloaf. Family was important to Karen, and she cherished every moment she was able to spend with them, especially her great grandbabies.

Surviving is her daughter, Stacia Jae (Troy) Zimmerman of Mt. Vernon; son, Raun Jay Longfellow of Mt. Vernon; four grandchildren, Halle Zimmerman, Anna (Anthony Mullet) Zimmerman, Andrew (Paige) Virmillion, and Ronda O’Brien; six great grandchildren, Ryatt, Riley, Jazzlyn, Abbey, Stevie Ray, and Ryan; two sisters, Janice Meyers and Carol (Keith) White and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert “Bob” Longfellow whom she married May 21, 1964 and who died March 9, 2025; a son, Jon Jay Longfellow; three sisters, Sharyl Hays, Kay Dean, and Mary Turner; six brothers, Paul Keith, Robert Carl, Hilton Wayne, James Leroy, Ricky Allen and Charles Edward Turner.

Family and Friends may call 11 AM to 1 PM, Friday, July 31, 2026 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil | Wagner | Marshall Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, July 31, 2026 at the funeral home with Minister Sam Dunn officiating. Karen will be laid to rest beside her husband, Bob, in Irville Cemetery.
