Obituary

Junior â??Tigâ? Tignor, 89, of Dresden, passed away Friday morning July 23, 2010 at Morrison House Hospice in Zanesville.

Born May 1, 1921 in Haydensville, Ohio he was a son of the late Clarence and Esther (Thomas) Tignor. During WWII, he served in the US Army in the European Theatre in the Signal Corps. In 2001 he was inducted into the Muskingum County Veterans Hall of Fame and was a member of the V.F.W. and a 50 plus year member of the Charles Mitchell Post #399 American Legion. He was the first river patrol deputy sheriff of Muskingum County serving under Sheriff Barny Uffner. Tigâ??s many hobbies were woodworking, roasting pigs and socializing with his many friends and family and was also instrumental in the construction of the cross that overlooks Dresden. He retired from Ohio Power Co. in 1983 where he had been a lineman for many years.

Surviving are a son, Jim (Renee) Tignor of Coshocton, a daughter, Melody (Gary) Graves of Vienna, VA; grandchildren, Teresa (Scott) Brockelhurst, Wayne (Abby) Tignor, Greg Tignor, Scott and Steve Graves; great grandchildren, Kyle, Kaden, Kendyl, Katie, Joel, Brad, Kali, Kaine, Marion, Marshall and Annabel, great-great granddaughter, Baylee; a brother, Reggie Tignor of Coshocton; step grandchildren, Cole and Cade Powers, Xavier and Jayzee Edie and Kyla, Ava and Julia Lyons.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Kathleen (Bice) Tignor on October 3, 2000; a brother Gary Tignor, sisters, Betty Jo Givens, Rosie Allen and Nancy Weishaupt.

Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8PM Monday July 26, 2010 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home where services will be held at 1PM Tuesday with Chaplain Tim Patton officiating. Burial will follow in the Dresden Cemetery. A funeral luncheon will be held at the American Legion Hall in Dresden following the committal service.
