A funeral service for Julia M. Hobbs, 91 of Newark , Ohio will be held Saturday August, 17, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of God, God's Acres, 675 N. Cedar Street with Pastor Roger L. Decker officiating. Calling hours will be observed from 9:00 a.m. until the services at the church. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery.
Sister Hobbs passed away Thursday August 1, 2019 at the Inn at Chapel Grove. She was born February 10, 1928 in Massillon, OH the fourth of seven children to William H. and Florence (Warstler) Hines. They grew up on a farm during the Great Depression. Very poor but always able to find food, and thanked God for it.
She graduated from Jackson High School in Stark County. She then stayed home and helped care for a sick brother. Later she moved to Florida with her husband and son where she resided for 41 years. She was employed at several banks in Ohio and Florida and also the Seminole County Highway Department. Her next move was to Newark where she attended and was a faithful member of the Church of God at God's Acres. She was active in church functions including, editing The Gospel Trumpeter, attending Camp Meetings, and especially appreciated the good food at the Dining Hall. She enjoyed sewing and often mended for folks. She also crocheted beautiful spreads and doilies. Her desire was to live to please the Lord and be an encouragement and blessing to others.
She is survived by a daughter, Brenda (Ken) Snyder of Raleigh, NC; son, James A. Dunn of Lake Mary, FL; six grandchildren, Seve Snyder of Washington, DC, Shane Snyder of Raleigh, NC, Shayna Snyder of Chicago, IL, Shenelle "Nellie" Snyder of Denver, CO, James Dunn, Jr., Tara Dunn both of Florida; sister, Pearl Hinderschied of Aurora, OH; several nieces, nephews, many good friends, a wonderful Pastor and church family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Forrest, Virgil, William "Bill", Dale and John Hines.
