Judy Kay Leas

Judy Kay Leas, 78, of Dresden, Ohio died peacefully Tuesday morning, June 9, 2026, at Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care, Morrison House in Zanesville.

Born October 11, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Donald R. and Mildred M. (Sager) Lightell and a 1966 graduate of Coshocton High School. Judy obtained her associates degree from Columbus Business School in 1968 and started working for A.K. Steel that same year. She was a long-time member of Frazeysburg Christian Church where she would help the quilting club by binding the quilts. Judy was an avid reader and volunteered at the Muskingum County Library and Frazeysburg Elementary where she would read to children. She was known for being honest and not afraid to tell you what she thought and for her family famous taco salad and deviled eggs. Judy’s greatest treasure was her family, and she cherished every moment she was able to spend with her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Surviving is her loving husband, Richard W. Leas whom she married February 2, 1979; son, Ryan (Melissa) Leas of Frazeysburg; daughter, Kara (Jon) McCoy of Zanesville; five grandchildren, Lauren and Drew Leas, Chad, Colt, and Payton McCoy; brother, Donald R. Lightell, Jr. and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

There will be a private family time of fellowship, celebrating the life of Judy.
