NEWARK: Juanita L. Palmer, 71 of Newark passed away Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. She was born June 23, 1938 in Newark to the late Mike Brownfield and Demaris (Shirley) Brownfield-Hoffine. A 1956 graduate of Central High School in Columbus, Mrs. Palmer worked as a secretary and book keeper; most recently for the Licking County Aging Program. Mrs. Palmer was unit president for the American Legion Auxiliary at Post 85 in Newark and served as president of the 6th District of the American Legion Auxiliary for four years. She had been a patient of DaVita Dialysis for 12 years. She will be remembered as a good friend to all who knew her. Survivors include her husband, Glenn E. Palmer; a sister, Lois Anne Breyer of Newark; a brother, Jerry (Barbara) Brownfield of Gahanna; nieces and nephews, Mike (Debb) Jones, Don Jones, Mike Brownfield, Sherry Brownfield, Shelly Brownfield, Scott Brownfield, Josie Brownfield; a great nephews, Darrin Jones and Joe Jones; and a great-great niece, Adrienne Dollarhide. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her nephew, Matt Brownfield; and her mother in-law, Edna Palmer. Friends and family may visit from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at the Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.
