FRAZEYSBURG – Joseph J. "Pappy" Susil, 85, of Frazeysburg, Ohio died Tuesday evening, February 14, 2012 at the Muskingum County Home.
Born February 22, 1926 in Blacklick, Ohio he was a son the late Bohumil and Aloisie (Veverka) Susil and was a Navy veteran serving during World War II. Mr. Susil was a self-employed carpenter and a farmer. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Dresden and was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He also loved music and playing the guitar.
Surviving are four sons, Joseph W. Susil, Royce (Cheryl) Susil and Keith Susil, all of Frazeysburg and Roger (Joyce) Susil of Tucson, Arizona; two daughters, Shirley Sargent of Grandview, Idaho and Linda (Mark) Jordan of Coshocton, Ohio; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, John (Ginnie) Susil of Pataskala, Ohio; five sisters, Mary (Bob) Simcoe of New York, Lou Bobb of Gahanna, Ohio, Frances Wesley of Blacklick, Ann Shelhart of Chillicothe, Ohio and Agnes Evans of Parma Heights, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, June (Hockley) Susil whom he married September 15, 1944 and who died April 14, 1987; a daughter in-law, Carolyn K. Susil who died July 3, 2010; a brother Frank Susil and a sister, Mildred Susil.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Friday, February 17, 2012 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street with Christian Vigil services beginning at 4pm. Rosary will be recited at 8pm.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am Saturday, February 18, 2012 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 407 Chestnut Street, Dresden, Ohio with the Rev. Father Jack Maynard as celebrate. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
