A funeral service for Joseph H. Meisenhelder, 83 of Frazeysburg will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday June 7, 2009 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 110 Third Street with Rev. Tom Myers officiating. Mr. Meisenhelder died Friday, June 5, 2009 at 2:35 a.m. at the Heath Nursing Care Center. He was born February 20, 1926 in Newark, Ohio to the late Franklin G. and Anna M. (Kelley) Meisenhelder. Mr. Meisenhelder enjoyed his family especially his grandchildren, He spent many hours outdoors hunting, fishing and camping. He retired in July 1986 as a gyro repair technician from Newark Air Force Base. He was a former glassblower for Heisey Glass. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He is survived by a daughter, Helen Brandt of Hanover; two sons, Ralph Meisenhelder and Michael (Jill) Meisenhelder both of Frazeysburg; four grandchildren, Julia (Jon) Holtz, Samuel (Angela) Brandt, Kari Meisenhelder, Misti (Devin) Hudak; four great grandchildren, Alexis Brandt, Kamron Keller-Meisenhelder, Gage Holtz, Mikayla Holtz; sister, Rita Hanford of Warsaw; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy Jean (Bay) Meisenhelder, whom died May 30, 2001; brothers, Franklin Meisenhelder, Anthony Meisenhelder; sisters, Martha Klaus and Mary Welsh.
