Joseph D. McCann, 95, of Nashport, Ohio died Sunday evening, October 14, 2012 at Adams Lane Care Center in Zanesville, Ohio.
Born March 1, 1917 in Nashport he was the son of the late Joseph D. McCann, Sr. and Viola B. (Cross) McCann. Mr. McCann was a graduate of Nashport High School and served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a member of the Nashport-Irville United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Irville Lodge #184, F. & A. M. for over 70 years; a member of the Order of Eastern Star for over 50 years and a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Jointers of America for 65 years. Mr. McCann enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He retired in 1980 where he had been a carpenter foreman with C. W. Taylor & Sons, Inc. for many years.
Surviving are two sons, Douglas D. (Maxine) McCann of Beaver, Ohio and Larry E. McCann of Nashport; a sister, Isabelle Minnich of Nashport and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of over 70 years, Helen E. (Hewitt) McCann whom he married in 1940 and who died January 26, 2012.
Calling hours will be 6 to 8pm Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Mesnard officiating. Burial will be in Irville Cemetery.
