Jon W. McCarty, 64, formerly of Nashport, Ohio died Thursday evening, January 14, 2016 at his residence in Simpsonville, South Carolina. Jon was a very faithful follower of Jesus Christ and now he is home in the presence of his Savior!
Born November 6, 1951 in Zanesville, Ohio he was a son of John David McCarty of Nashport and the late Catherine Mae (Shuck) McCarty. Jon was a 1969 graduate of Tri-Valley High School and of Bob Jones University where he received his Bachelor's degree in business and his Master's degree in education. He was a member of Cambridge Bible Church. Mr. McCarty was an area home builder and was owner of Tri-Valley Builders. Jon was also a teacher and for the past two years he taught with Assisting Chinese Through Service in China.
Surviving in addition to his father is his loving wife of nearly 41 years, Sharon R. (Dawson) McCarty whom he married February 14, 1975; a daughter, Rebekah (T. J.) Genovese of Greer, South Carolina; three sons, Jonathan McCarty of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Timothy (Allison) McCarty of Southgate, Michigan and Michael (Logan) McCarty of Whiterocks, Utah; two grandchildren, Lydia and Vivian Genovese and another grandchild on the way. Also surviving is one brother, Andy (Kathy) McCarty of Dresden; two sisters, Christy (Fred) Schneider of Blue Rock, Ohio and Amanda (Doug) Waite of Nashport and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours.
Funeral services will 1:00pm Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Maranatha Bible Church, 2400 Chandlersville Road, Zanesville, Ohio with Pastor Joel Owen officiating. Burial will be in Irville Cemetery at Nashport.
