April 27, 1935 – January 30, 2024
John Redman Van Orman, 88 of Johnstown went to be with the Lord January 30, 2024 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was born April 27, 1935 in Mt. Vernon, OH to the late William C. and Edna F. (Parr) Van Orman.
A graduate of Columbus East High School, John worked for Rockwell International and retired from McDonnell-Douglas. He attended Alexandria Baptist Church. John enjoyed fishing and time outdoors. He also enjoyed working with his hands. More than anything, he cherished spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Kathleen (Sullivan) Van Orman, whom he married December 24, 1970; daughters, Johneen (Mark) Stelzer of Gahanna, Nicole (David) King, Kelly (Bryan) Butler, all of Johnstown; grandchildren, Jacob (Shelby) Castle, Nathan (Isabelle Baily) Castle, Kayla (Kyle) Kintz, Megan (Trevor Peters) Castle, Abigail (Hunter) Nickell, Joshua Butler, Seth Butler, Zachary King, Allison Stelzer and Abigail Stelzer; a great-grandchild, Bennett Castle and twins due in July. John is also survived by his friend, Robert Castle.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Van Orman and William Van Orman.
Friends and family may visit from 11 a.m to 1 pm. Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at the Alexandria Baptist Church, 94 W. Main Street, Alexandria, OH 43001.
Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church with Pastor Brian Potts officiating.
