FRAZEYSBURG â?? John Francis Shaw, Jr., 80, of Frazeysburg, Ohio died Sunday morning, August 29, 2010 at the Muskingum County Home in Zanesville.
Born April 28, 1930 in Zanesville, he was the son of the late John Francis Shaw, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Graham) Shaw and was a 1948 graduate of Frazeysburg High School. Mr. Shaw retired in 1989 from Southeastern Equipment Company of Cambridge where he was a sale representative. After his retirement he worked four years as an administrative assistant in the Muskingum County Engineers office. Mr. Shaw was a member of the Frazeysburg Presbyterian Church and over the years he served as Elder, Deacon and Trustee. He was also a member of Frazeysburg Lodge #490, F. & A. M.; the Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge and the Chapter and Council bodies of the York Rite. He was a life-time member of the Old Steam and Gas Club and he has a varied collection of antique tractors.
Surviving is his wife, Lois J. (Nethers) Shaw whom he married December 23, 1960; two sons and daughters in-law, John Andrew and Jennifer Shaw of Delaware, Ohio and James Stanley and Shereé Shaw of Edmond, Oklahoma; one daughter and son in-law, Jennifer Lynn and Bill Ogg of Hebron, Ohio; five grandchildren, Ben, Jake and Samantha Shaw and Will and Olivia Ogg; one brother, George (Connie) Shaw of Urbana, Ohio; two sisters, Lola Crown Hains of Dresden and Janet (Warren) Baker of Frazeysburg; several nieces and nephews and many special friends.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street. Frazeysburg Lodge will conduct Masonic services at 8:15pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday, September 2, 2010 at the funeral home with the Rev. Anthony Lorenz officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Activity Fund of the Muskingum County Home, 3125 East Pike, Zanesville, Ohio 43701 or to the Frazeysburg Presbyterian Church, Post Office Box 282, Frazeysburg, Ohio 43822.
