On Thursday, August 29, 2024, John D. Mick of Newark, Ohio, completed his faithful journey at the age of 92 and was called home to be with the Lord.

John Dale Mick was born on September 29, 1931 in Newark, Ohio to the late Albert and Margie (Thompson) Mick. He married the love of his life, Mary (Brown) Mick on July 1, 1956 at Christian Apostolic Church in Newark, where they were active members.

A 1952 graduate of Utica High School, John was drafted into the Army and proudly served his country in France during the Korean conflict. He had a deep love for the outdoors; enjoying hunting, fishing, camping, and time with family. For many years he could be found at Licking Valley sporting events cheering on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as their biggest fan.  Above all, John was a devoted man of God and an ordained preacher who faithfully read his Bible, sang and worshiped throughout his life. His unwavering devotion to the Lord inspired
several generations of his family and many others to live a life in the light of Jesus Christ.

John is survived by his daughter, Brenda (Jeff) Waters; son, John (Donna) Mick; daughter, Shawna (David) Studer; grandchildren, Peter Muzykoski, Jr., Ryan (Oddy Dolwick) Muzykoski, Meredith Muzykoski, Heath (Jodi) Waters, Tara (Kyle) Gordon, and Heather (Chase) Cottrell; great-grandchildren, Brea, Crae, Haylee, Layna, Hayden, Kyla, Kenly, and Ryan; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his parents and loving wife, John was preceded in death by his brothers, Carl (Betty) Mick, Fay (Dorothy) Mick, Ivan (Nordie) Mick and two infant brothers; sisters Marjorie (Mark) Stone and Rosemary (Dale) Alberry; and sister-in-law, Jo (Mick) Lloyd.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2024 at Christian Apostolic Church, 22 N 23rd St, Newark, OH 43055 with Pastor G. Keith Sjöstrand officiating. Burial will follow at Wilson Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 West Main St, Newark and from 11a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Christian Apostolic Church.
