DRESDEN – John J. Lane, 78, of Zanesville, Ohio died Sunday morning, February 12, 2012 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital.
Born September 10, 1933 in Zanesville he was a son of the late Denzil and Cora Frances (Tilton) Lane. Mr. Lane was a retired self-employed logger and he had also been employed by Graybill Lumber of Roseville, Ohio. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on his old tractors. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his kids and grandkids and just relaxing, sitting on his front porch.
Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Margaret I. (Pierce) Lane whom he married October 10, 1953; three sons John (Tracy) Lane of Hebron, Ohio, Doug (Laura) Lane of New Concord, Ohio and Mike (Virginia) Lane of Frazeysburg, Ohio; six daughters, Karen (Ralph) Squires of Frazeysburg, Carol (Eddie) Lowe of Coshocton, Ohio, Rose (Ron Dillon) Lane of Dresden, Ohio, Melanie (Mike Croston) Chapman of Coshocton, Sharon Lane of Zanesville and Rachelle (David) Kimberlin of Zanesville; eight brothers, Donnie, Jerry, Leon, Clarence, Roy, Dennis, David and Billy; five sisters, Mary Lou, Penny, Lois, Judy and Sue; many grandchildren; many great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ron and Fred and a sister, Gladys.
Calling hours will be 5pm to 8pm Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 1:00pm Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at New Hope Cemetery, near Adamsville, Ohio.
