Obituary

John W. Kennedy, 83 of Newark, formerly of Columbus, passed away December 3, 2005 at his daughter?s residence. Mr. Kennedy was born January 1, 1922. He served in the European theatre during World War II in the U.S. Army and was a Normandy survivor; awarded a Bronze Star with Cluster, and two Purple Hearts. He was a retired roofer with Roofers Local 86. He was a life member of Amvets Post 89. In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by his wife Pauline Kennedy, whom he married July 18, 1942, and who died September 6, 2001; five brothers and a sister. Mr. Kennedy is survived by his six children, John (Patty) Kennedy, Daniel (Melanie) Kennedy, Patrick (Debbie) Kennedy, Raymond Kennedy, Kathryn Kinnaman, Peggy (Robert) Parker; 14 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and a special niece Nancy Coleman.Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at Northlawn Memory Gardens, Westerville with Pastor Tom Myers, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Rd., Newark, Ohio 43055. The Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Homes.
