NEWARK ? Funeral services for John ?Dave? Hutchison, 76, of Newark, Ohio will be at 10:00am Saturday, April 24, 2004 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Mitchell Van Metre officiating. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery. Mr. Hutchison died Sunday evening, April 18, 2004 at Licking Memorial Hospital. Born October 30, 1927 in Granville, Ohio, he was the son of the late John B. and Gertrude (Keyes) Hutchison and was a 1946 graduate of Granville High School. He served in the U. S. Army from 1946 to 1948 and then enrolled at Miami University where he graduated in 1952. He then joined the Air Force reserves and retired as a Captain in 1963. Mr. Hutchison retired in 1991 from the U. S. Postal Service where he was a rural letter carrier out of the Hebron Post Office. He is a member of the Second Presbyterian Church of Newark, the Retired Rural Letter Carriers Association, Center Star Lodge #11, F. & A. M., and the Newark Evening Lions Club. He was a very avid Newark Wildcats fan and was a member of the NHS Boosters Club, the Quarterback Club, the Rebounders Club and was a NHS Cheerleader Grandparent. Surviving is his wife, Betty (O?Flaherty) Hutchison, whom he married November 12, 1955; one son, John (Lori) Hutchison of Newark; one daughter, Cynthia (Ed) Collins of Chillicothe, Ohio; two granddaughters, Shannon Nicole Hutchison and Shelby Lynn Hutchison, both of Newark, and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm Friday, April 23, 2004 at the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 West Main Street, Newark. Center Star Lodge will conduct Masonic services at 6:30pm Friday at the funeral home and the Licking County Veterans Alliance will conduct military honors at the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Second Presbyterian Church, 42 East Church Street, Newark, Ohio 43055. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
