Obituary

John D. Hatfield, 80, of Dresden, Ohio passed away, Saturday afternoon, March 11, 2017 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville, Ohio after an extended illness.

Born August 5, 1936 near Adamsville, Ohio he was a son of the late John A. and Esther (Bethel) Hatfield and was a 1955 graduate of Dresden Jefferson High School. Mr. Hatfield proudly served our country in the U. S. Marines from 1959 to 1962. He retired from Rockwell International, heat treat department, with over 30 years of service. John was a member of Dresden Lodge #103, F. & A. M. and was an avid outdoorsman. He especially enjoyed farming and deer hunting in the fall.

On September 3, 1957 he married his childhood sweetheart, Carol "Jeannie" (Scheurman) Hatfield, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Lisa M. (Tony) Jaqua of Warsaw, Ohio, Deborah L. (Eric) Dickson and Stacey J. (Daniel) Hamilton, both of Dresden; three grandchildren, Emily Jaqua, Trever and Grace Dickson; five step grandchildren; several step great grandchildren; a sister, Betty Harden, of Zanesville; six brothers, Bob Hatfield of Fultonham, Bill Hatfield, Clarence Hatfield and Larry (Linda) Hatfield all of Zanesville, Gene (Martha) Hatfield of Adamsville and Ed (Debbie) Hatfield of South Zanesville and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at the funeral home with Minister Sam Dunn officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
