John Harris, 65, beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather, was called to his eternal resting place on November 27, 2020. Born on July 8, 1955 in Newark, OH, to the late Dick and Betty (Idle) Harris. He is survived by his loving wife, Cathy (McKee) Harris, his children, Dawn (Jarrod) Harris-McClain, Ryan (Mindy) Harris, Lyndsay Ross, Sydney Harris, and his 9 grandchildren, Cameron and Tyson Poulton, Reese and Justis McClain, Kerstin and Evan Harris, Delaney Winters, Beckham Ross, and Londyn Wilson, two sisters, Judy (Mike) Dettre and Cindy (Dwight) Stockdale, and several nieces & nephews.

A 1973 graduate of Licking Valley High School and lifelong resident of Newark, OH. John started his career in custom residential home building, owning and operating John Harris Construction for 2 decades before joining Kokosing Construction Company as a mechanic/operator. Soon after retiring from Kokosing  he went back to work with BUDS Inc. where he supervised construction projects throughout Ohio.

John's true passion was working on the family farm, building upon his Father's legacy over the course of the last twenty years.  Harris Farms is a place where he felt most at home and connected to his parents.  John loved farming alongside his good friends, BJ Varner, Roger Wills, Frank Darnes, and his grandson Reese McClain.

Friends and family may call 4p.m. to 7p.m. Friday, December 11, 2020 at VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME – NEWARK, 1850 W. Main St.

Private funeral services will take place with Pastor David Warner officiating.  Burial will be at Spring Grove Cemetery.
