DRESDEN – John J. Hahn, 81, of Dresden, Ohio died Friday afternoon, December 23, 2011 at his home.
Born June 20, 1930 in Dresden he was the son of the late Charles "Chalk" and Vera (Wolford) Hahn and was a 1949 graduate of Dresden Jefferson High School. Following high school he was a member of the Naval Reserves and in 1992 he retired from United Technologies with 42 years of service. Mr. Hahn was a former member of the Dresden Volunteer Fire Department and was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed gardening, woodworking and spending time with his granddaughters.
Surviving is his wife of over 60 years, Mary Ellen (McGlade) Hahn whom he married May 27, 1951; two sons and daughters in-law, Robert and Catherine Hahn of Nashport, Ohio and David and Elaine Hahn of Dresden; one daughter and son in-law, Kathleene and Charles Sidwell of Frazeysburg, Ohio; five granddaughters, Alexis, Allison, Molly, Kelsey and Shayna; two sisters, Hazel Crozier and Ruth (Arthur) Untied, both of Dresden and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Marion Chamberlain.
Calling hours will be 5 to 8pm Monday, December 26, 2011 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the funeral home with the Rev. Greg Inboden officiating. Burial will be in Dresden Cemetery.
