A homegoing service celebrating the life of John Richard Elliott, 87 of Newark will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2023 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Apostle Charlene Baxter, Pastor Marie Shackleford and Apostle Romell Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Newark Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Elliott died December 24, 2022 at Licking Memorial Hospital.  He was born May 21, 1935 in Columbus, OH to the late Fred D. Elliott, Sr. and Vera Lynn (Milner) Elliott. Mr. Elliott retired from Owens-Corning Fiberglas.

Survivors left to cherish his memory include his children, John Elliott (Shandis Goodgame), Paige Elliott; grandchildren, Alexis Elliott, Judge Elliott, Diamond Elliott, Terrance Cunningham, Isaiah Cunningham, Sereinity Cunningham, Damari Cunningham, Kamarianne Cunningham and Kelow Jones; great-grandson, Judge Elliott, Jr.; a brother, Fred Elliott (Josephine); sisters, Betty Thompson, Gloria Elliott, Shirley Allen, Edwina Flemister, Apostle Charlene Baxter and Pastor Marie Shackleford (Daniel), Gladys Elliott, Erma Jean Elliott,; and a host of nieces nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents Mr. Elliott was preceded in death by brothers, Edward Elliott, Donald Elliott and Robert Elliott; and a sister, Mamie Ellis.

Friends and family may visit two hours prior to the funeral service, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark, OH  43055.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
