FRAZEYSBURG – John P. Deeds, 55, of Newark, passed away at his home with his family by his side on July 25, 2011 after a brave fight with esophageal cancer. He was born in Zanesville, Ohio November 2, 1955 to Pearl (Bennett) Deeds and the late Wayne Deeds.
Mr. Deeds graduated from Licking Valley High School in 1974 where he was involved in football, basketball, track and FFA. He graduated from The Ohio State University – Wooster ATI in 1976 and was known by all as a Buckeye fan for life. He was a long-time employee at Tamarack Farms Dairy. John began his career in dairy on the family farm (Deeds Hillcrest Farm).
John was a lifetime member of Hanover Presbyterian Church and past Elder.
He is survived by his wife, Luellen (Parrill) Deeds of the home; his daughters, Holly (Dan) Martin of Springfield; Erika (Scott) McMaster of Canal Winchester; Lora Deeds of Westerville; step-children Christopher (Kim) Felumlee of Hanover; Matthew (Amy) Felumlee of North Carolina; Sara Felumlee of Newark. Grandchildren Michael, Sydnie, Xavier, Kendyll, Payson; his Mother, Pearl Deeds of Nashport; brothers Alan (Jan) Deeds of Newark; Dwight Deeds of Nashport; a sister Judy Tuttle of Hanover; nieces Emily and Anna Deeds and by Jim and Bev Fleming of Newark.
John was preceded in death by his first wife of 30 years Debbie (Fleming) Deeds; his father Wayne Deeds and his grandparents.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Funeral services will be 10:30am Thursday, July 28, 2011 at the Hanover Presbyterian Church, 732 North Main Street, Hanover with the Rev. Charlsie Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
