FRAZEYSBURG – John O. Cronin, 86, of Frazeysburg, Ohio died Sunday evening, July 24, 2011 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital.
Born February 19, 1925 in Glouster, Ohio he was the son of the late John H. and Liela M. (Latta) Cronin and was a veteran of World War II having served from 1943 to 1946 in the U. S. Marines. Mr. Cronin was a retired self-employed carpenter and was a life member of Wakatomika Post 6193, V. F. W. of Frazeysburg. He also served one term as Mayor of Frazeysburg.
Surviving are four sons, Jack (Hilda) Cronin of Canton, North Carolina, Joe (Joy) Cronin of Dresden, Chuck (Bev) Elekes of Frazeysburg and Doug (Judy) Elekes of Nashport; two daughters, Marsha (Dennis) Miller of Frazeysburg and Kay (Doug) Border of Dresden; a sister in-law, Mary Catherine Cronin of Delaware, Ohio; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen L. (Johnson) Cronin whom he married December 11, 1947 and who died May 20, 1990; one granddaughter; two brothers and four sisters.
Calling hours will be from 10:30am to 11:30am Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home. A graveside service will be conducted at Frazeysburg Cemetery following the calling hours.
